How to convert HEIC to JPG

    1. 1Drop your HEIC photos into the box above, or click Choose photos.
    2. 2Pick JPG, PNG or WebP and a quality level. Each photo converts as soon as it's added.
    3. 3Download photos one at a time, or all together as a ZIP file.

    Why are iPhone photos HEIC?

Since iOS 11, iPhones save photos in HEIC (High Efficiency Image Container) by default. HEIC files are roughly half the size of a JPG at similar quality, which saves a lot of space on your phone. The catch is compatibility: many Windows apps, websites, upload forms and older programs still can't open them. Converting to JPG gives you a file that works everywhere.

    JPG, PNG or WebP?

    • JPG is the safest choice for photos. Every device, app and website accepts it.
    • PNG is lossless, so it keeps every pixel exactly, but files are several times bigger. Use it when you plan to edit the image further.
    • WebP makes the smallest files and is ideal for websites, but some older apps can't open it.

What about Live Photos and portrait shots?

Each HEIC file converts to one still image. For Live Photos, that's the key photo you see in your library. Portrait mode photos keep the background blur you see on your phone. Photos come out the right way up, because the converter follows the orientation your iPhone saved.

Converting on Windows without an app

Windows can only show HEIC photos if you install Microsoft's HEIF and HEVC extensions, and even then many programs refuse them. This converter runs in any modern browser, including Chrome, Edge and Firefox, so there's nothing to install. Your photos never leave your computer.
