How to convert BMP to JPG
- 1Drop your BMP files into the box above, or click Choose images.
- 2Pick JPG for the smallest files, or PNG to keep every pixel.
- 3Download each image, or all of them as a ZIP file.
Why BMP files are so big
BMP is a Windows format from the 1980s that usually stores every pixel with no compression at all. A single photo can easily be 10 to 30 MB. Old scanners, Paint, screenshots from legacy software and some industrial cameras still produce BMPs.
JPG or PNG?
- JPG shrinks photos and scans the most, often by 90% or more, with no visible difference at Best quality.
- PNG is lossless, so it's the right choice for screenshots, diagrams and anything with text, and still much smaller than BMP.
