How to convert JPG to PNG
- 1Drop your JPGs into the box above, or click Choose images.
- 2PNG is selected for you. Each image converts as soon as it's added.
- 3Download each PNG, or all of them as a ZIP file.
Why convert JPG to PNG?
- Editing without extra loss. Every time a JPG is edited and saved again, it loses a little more detail. Saving your work as PNG stops that from happening.
- Sites and apps that require PNG. Some design tools, app stores and upload forms only accept PNG.
- Adding transparency later. PNG supports transparent backgrounds, so it's the right starting point if you plan to remove a background in an editor.
Will the PNG be better quality?
No. Converting can't restore detail that JPG compression already removed. The PNG looks exactly like your JPG, it just won't lose any more quality from here on. Expect the file to be larger.
Does this make the background transparent?
No. A JPG has no transparency information, so the PNG keeps the same solid background. You'd need a background remover for that.
