Why convert SVG to PNG?
SVG is a vector format: it describes shapes rather than pixels, so it stays sharp at any size. That's ideal for websites, but many places only accept regular images, including social media, email signatures, slide decks, Word documents and app stores. A PNG works in all of them and keeps transparency.
Choosing a size
An SVG has no fixed resolution, so you choose how many pixels the PNG gets. 1× uses the width and height set in the SVG file. 2× and 4× double or quadruple both dimensions, which keeps logos crisp on high-resolution screens and in print. If the SVG has no size set, the converter uses its viewBox, or 512 pixels.
Fonts and linked images
SVGs that rely on fonts installed on the designer's computer, or that link to images elsewhere on the web, may look different when converted. For best results, convert text to outlines in your design app before exporting the SVG.
