Why WebP images cause trouble
Many websites serve images as WebP because the files are small and fast. When you right-click and save one, you get a .webp file, and plenty of software still won't open it, including some photo viewers, Office apps, print shops and online forms. JPG is accepted almost everywhere.
Choosing a quality
JPG is a lossy format, like WebP. Converting from one to the other can't add back detail that's already gone, so keep the quality high. Best is a good choice when the image matters. Balanced makes smaller files that look the same at normal viewing sizes.
Transparent WebP images
JPG can't store transparency. If your WebP has a transparent background, it's filled with the color you choose under Fill transparent areas with, which is white by default. To keep the transparency, convert to PNG instead.
